Today parents name their kids for relatives, friends, or the popular names of their time. But in
Biblical times the names or renames most of the times had specific meanings to each name. In
the NIV notes it explains that each of the throne names of the Messiah consists of two elements.
“For unto us a child is born, to us a (royal) Son (of David the King) is given, and the government
will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor (Messiah carries out
marvelous pre-planned purposes), Mighty God (Divine powerful warrior), Everlasting Father
(enduring compassionate provider and protector), Prince of Peace (His rule will bring wholeness
& well-being to persons and to society) Is. 9:6. “ Therefore God exalted Him (Christ) to the
highest place and gave Him the name above every name, that the name of Jesus every knee
should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus
Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Phil. 2:9,10. Jesus Christ had many names that
expressed who He was in a specific function of His Personhood: Savior, deliverer, healer, bread
of life, alpha and omega, word, plus many more and He was the Son of God part of the triune
God which is hard for us to understand. “ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was
with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Jn 1;1,2 Then God said,
“Let us make man in our image, in our likeness….. Gen. 1:26a. I lokk forward to having the ability
to understand fully the Trinity but in faith I chose to accept it as truth until I see Him again.
